In the Water Series I represent with a wide range of blues, greens and turquoises the beauty of our coasts and oceans, calling for an individual and collective effort to try to take care of them and preserve them for the future generations.
“Plastic is one of the most serious problems in marine ecosystems. An estimated 8 million tonnes of plastic end up in our oceans every year, according to the UN. Overfishing and activities that damage the seabed endanger the species that live there, as well as compromising their natural habitat. On the other hand, the oceans produce 50% of the planet’s oxygen and are an important carbon sink: they absorb almost a third of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (one of the main causes of global warming) and release oxygen. This makes them a key player in the fight against climate change.
