“Sticking to the important” is the principle guiding a series of works where I practice simplification. I start by creating a background where the entire surface of the canvas is covered with drawing, texture, and color. Once this background is established, I analyze which elements contribute the most value and study the composition accordingly. Then, I apply a plain and uniform color to the rest, thus giving the prominence that the main element deserves.
It’s not just an idea I apply to these works, but also reflects an attitude I strive to maintain in life: stripping away everything superficial and focusing on what truly matters.
